Trappers Hut

Trappers Hut provided a welcome excuse for a well earned rest after some hours of constant uphill walking. The Fish River lies many metres below, and only a short distance above is the vast alpine wilderness areas of the Walls of Jerusalem and beyond to the Central Plateau. This Hut was originally used in the mid 1800s by animal trappers seeking better quality coats of alpine animals. This entire area and much more of Tasmania's wilderness is now protected as World Heritage.
